A Course in Supernatural occurrences - Example 1

A Course In Miracles Lesson 1

a course in miracles lesson 1

It's important to start at the beginning, don’t skip any lessons. They were devised in order for a reason, so we'll be working our way through the whole book – A Course In Miracles - in a chronological manner. This will help keep you focused and prevent you from getting confused.

Lesson 1, Workbook Lesson 1

Lesson one is a very straightforward statement of logic that will probably not meet with much resistance or even much acceptance at all. And yet it’s just as important that you engage in the meditative exercise of this lesson as any of the other exercises in the workbook. It is intended to train the mind in a different perception of everyone and everything that you see. Transfer of this training to anyone or anything does not proceed in the same way as transfer of training in the world, because true perception is all-inclusive.

To practice this idea, begin with the things that are close to you and move your glance around you easily and quickly, Acim avoiding selection by size, brightness, color or relative importance to you. Attempt to see all objects as equal in their lack of real meaning.

If you have not done so, begin at Lesson 1 of a Course in Miracles and follow the lessons in order. It is important to not skip any lessons as they are devised in order for a very specific reason.

Today’s lesson focuses on the concept that everything you see is nothing more than an appearance and that this appearance is completely dependent on the complex network of thoughts associated with it. The goal of the exercises is to train your mind to a different perception of everyone and every thing you see. This is accomplished by applying this idea to whatever you see with the same ease and generality as the ideas from the preceding lessons.

In the first few lessons, some readers may find that they have a great deal of resistance to this idea. The book explains that this is to be expected as the mind is used to thinking in a very different way than this new approach. It is important not to let this skepticism derail your practice of the Course. Simply keep in mind that it is impossible to change your beliefs without first trying to understand them. The best approach is to try and accept them as fact rather than fiction and then attempt to apply this truth to all that you see.
